First, I’m gonna admit I’m buzzed right now, so this post may contain more exclamation points than I usually deem acceptable. (It’s also not helping that I woke up hours earlier than normal and I’m currently on my third cup of coffee.)
The reason I was up early was to watch the livestream of Cork Chamber’s Cork Digital Marketing Awards, which aired at 7am Kentucky time, where I am.
Frank and I hopped on a Zoom to watch it together, because we were finalists in the category of Best Digital Marketing Team. He’s still in Cork time, by the way, so you’ll see below he was looking way more awake and with-it than I was.
There are a lot of funny things about “attending” an awards ceremony during a pandemic. One of them being that you can go in your pj’s. Another, that your viewing partner’s videostream may run slightly ahead of yours.
So when Sinead Kennedy (the MC) got to our category, I was still waiting for her to announce the winner when I heard Frank go “NO WAY!”
And that’s how I found out we won.
I mean… that’s how I found out we won!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In Sinead’s words:
The Judges were full of praise for these winners… They said the creativity and easy style of writing to explain what they do made the judges feel they knew this team so well, and their client work showed them their views were correct.
Yeah—so those are words we’ll be reading over and over again whenever we need a little mood boost.
Even though there was no in-person awards ceremony, we didn’t let that stop us from making an acceptance speech.
We’re so grateful to Cork Chamber for this award that caught us completely by surprise.
But it’s you—Yes you! You, reading this right now!—that we want to thank for your support and your commitment to hang out here with us. Which makes you part of the Best Digital Marketing Team as well.
We haven’t yet decided how we’re going to celebrate. It’ll probably involve cheese, chocolate, and an unwise amount of coffee. Whatever we end up doing, we’ll definitely toast you as well.
So go on, ya legend (which I’m pretty sure is something Cork people say. Frank will correct me if not).
